What To Do When You Feel Stuck
You're not moving forward. Not moving backward. Just...stuck.
Same job. Same struggles. Same cycles. Same spiritual plateau. You're praying, reading your Bible, going to church—but nothing's changing.
Moses faced this. The Israelites faced this. And God's response wasn't "pray harder." It was something different.
The Red Sea Moment
Exodus 14. The Israelites are trapped between the Red Sea and Pharaoh's army. Stuck doesn't even begin to describe it.
Moses prays. And God says something shocking: "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on."
Move on. Take action. Do something.
Sometimes you're stuck not because God hasn't moved, but because you haven't.
Why We Get Stuck
1. We're waiting for perfect clarity. We want God to email us a detailed plan before we take one step. But faith doesn't work that way.
Joshua 1:9: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Notice it doesn't say "wherever you stay." Wherever you GO.
2. We're comfortable in familiar pain. Stuck is predictable. Moving forward requires risk. Sometimes we choose the pain we know over the uncertainty of change.
3. We're paralyzed by past failure. You tried something before and it didn't work. So now you won't try anything.
But one failed attempt doesn't mean God is done with you. It means you learned what doesn't work.
Three Steps Forward
Step 1: Identify what you CAN control. You can't control the outcome. You can't control other people. But you can control your next step.
What's one thing you can do this week to move forward? Not ten things. One thing.
Step 2: Take action before you feel ready. Moses didn't feel ready to lead. Joshua didn't feel ready to conquer. David didn't feel ready to fight Goliath.
But they moved anyway. And God met them in the movement.
Step 3: Expect resistance. When you start moving forward, things will try to stop you. That's normal. It doesn't mean you're going the wrong way.
The Red Sea didn't part until they moved toward it. The walls of Jericho didn't fall until they marched. The giant didn't fall until David ran at him.
What's On The Other Side
Staying stuck feels safe. But it's costing you.
It's costing you the destiny God has for you. The breakthrough He wants to give you. The testimony you could have.
On the other side of stuck is growth. Purpose. Impact. The life you keep praying for.
But you have to move to get there.
Your Next Step
What's keeping you stuck right now?
A conversation you need to have? A decision you need to make? A step of obedience you've been avoiding?
Whatever it is, do it this week. Don't wait for perfect conditions. Don't wait to feel ready.
God is saying what He said to Moses: "Tell them to move on."
So move. The miracle is on the other side of your obedience.
Let's pray:
"Lord, I'm tired of being stuck. Give me the courage to move forward even when I don't feel ready. Show me my next step and give me faith to take it. I trust that You'll meet me in the movement. In Jesus' name, Amen."
